What the Body Requires
“Hoenigman's terse, staccato prose is the language of consciousness, and his book not so much anti-narrative as true to the realities of one's inner sense-making, true to the convoluted and seemingly disparate tales we tell ourselves. In short, Burn Your Belongings is a well-crafted and adventurous book from what is undoubtedly a writer of great promise."  – Gary J. Shipley, Word Riot

David Hoenigman's astonishing novel contains images and music by the notable Japanese electronic musician and record producer, Yasutoshi Yoshida. The fine art edition consists of text + image as a scroll inside bamboo, with the cork bottom containing a book of matches bearing the book's title, Burn Your Belongings.  The book will be released at a reading and exhibition in Tokyo, Japan, September 2010.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David F. Hoenigman was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, but has lived in Tokyo, Japan since 1998. He
is the organizer of Tokyo’s bimonthly PAINT YOUR TEETH, a celebration of experimental music, literature
and dance. Hoenigman regularly interviews avant-garde writers for the online journal Word Riot. He is
currently working on his second novel, Squeal For Joy, forthcoming from Jaded Ibis Press.

"Lyrical and funny and wise, Catto's one-of-a-kind family memoir is a stunning valentine to storytelling."
– Catherine Browder, author of Secret Lives

Patricia Catto brilliantly reinvents the family memoir by relocating herself in her ancestors’ birthplace of Puglia, Italy. In this way, she keenly explores the relationship between becoming and being a child of Italian immigrants. In Puglia, unforgettable characters come alive within tales altogether hilarious, sweet and tragic.  Catto’s reading style and humor is often compared to those of David Sedaris – but with an Italian-American kick!

"Darkly entertaining! A brilliant sound collage combining spoken word, music and audio bites from diverse media sources."
– American Book Review

Davis Schneiderman and Don Meyer collaborate on this extraordinary sound collage combining spoken word, music and audio bites from appropriately diverse media sources. The result is a hip, hopped-up portrait of the way we live now. Memorials to Future Catastrophes is the first phase of a multimedia project that starts with these suggestive catastrophes in a world increasingly cordoned off by the representative fears of terrorism, bio-disease outbreaks and natural disasters.

WHAT THE BODY REQUIRES

A Symphonic Novel

"...highly ambitious and of the deepest seriousness... The consistency with which the writing invests everyday actions and objects with an almost erotic fervor is truly extraordinary...."
-- R.M. Berry, author of Leonardo's Horse, Dictionary of Modern Anguish and Frank

Debra Di Blasi reinvents the romantic thriller by creating a plot thick with sexual hijinks and erotic intrigue. An engaging cast of misfits, unforgettable settings, and sumptuous writing propel What the Body Requires to a contemporary literary classic. One of only four finalists in the James Fellowship for the novel-in-progress, sponsored by the Heekin Foundatio
